Can you tell a little bit about your professional life? What is your role in the company and what do you do in your job?
My professional life started as a Python developer in a small company. However, I was more into the infrastructure side of computers, as I always like to build and see how networks were made, how to connect computers, and see how this can bring joy or usefulness to people.
After the first year of being a programmer, I joined Dynatrace and started to discover and be amazed by the world of APM. As a member of the services team, during this time I had the opportunity to work as a Guardian at some companies and progress over Consultant and Solution Architect, a position that I never realized that I would be so quick in time.
As a solution architect, I am mainly responsible for bridging businesses' needs and the optimal technical decisions; I am also in charge of establishing the best practices to be implemented for both projects and clients. To achieve this goal, I try to keep good communication with the services team and point out solutions whenever possible or needed. And to make that possible, I need to be well-informed about new technologies and be on top of new Dynatrace functionalities.
What Dynatrace products do you use? What do you like the most about them?
I mainly use Dynatrace, and sometimes AppMon. What I mainly like regarding the Dynatrace platform is the possibility of selecting and adapting the data to be able to present it in a smart way to the client in many different areas and situations. As an example of how this works, some specific user actions done in a certain way on a customer website may indicate fraud, thus Dynatrace can show the list of people names in this scenario.
Have you ever had any interesting use case for the Dynatrace product, that you found out to be particularly intriguing? Could you tell us about it?
Yes, I have. What I found really interesting on Dynatrace is how data can be versatile, coming/injecting from a variety of places. This blog post on how to track a Hamster wheel with Dynatrace inspired me to build a website for my girlfriend where she could keep the data of how many books and pages, she has written for their doctorate thesis.
Now I am working on how to integrate a smart lamp with Dynatrace, switching its color as a notification when there is a Dynatrace problem.
Why do you contribute to the Community? What is your best memory about it?
My best memory about the Community is when me and my colleagues were on a small competition to see who could win more points and we were ahead in the score. It was a fun time that helped the Community to grow as well.
And how about your life outside the IT – what is your biggest passion?
Outside IT, I really love to learn more about cars. Besides that, one of my biggest passion is going out to the park with my girlfriend to pet the cats, get some ice cream, and see the animals like birds, ducks, peacocks, horses, swan, and others... Another passion that I really love is to watch movies with her, either at the cinema or at home with some delicious popcorn.

One of my favorite movies is Sully. I like how Sully was confident in his decision, how he was a leader and handled the situation with professionalism, awareness, and respect.
Also, a book that I started reading in Portuguese and I like it already is "O Minimo Que Voce Precisa Saber Para Não Ser Um Idiota" ("The Least You Need To Know Not To Be An Idiot") from the Brazilian philosopher Olavo de Carvalho.
The smart lamp idea is amazing, it looks like a Dynatrace UFO will have a competition soon 🙂 Thank you for the interview, Gabriel!
