Hello Dynatrace Community!

Our second Community Member of the Month for 2021 comes from Bulgaria – congratulations, @Martin K.! His questions are always to-the-point and professional, and thanks to them other members can also learn something new about Dynatrace. Thank you, Martin, for joining also our Challenges and providing feedback for our Perform 2021 plans. Let’s hear his story in the short interview:

Can you tell a little bit about your professional life? Where do you work and what do you do in your job?

I am working for CodeAttest (https://www.codeattest.com), a leading performance consulting service company in Bulgaria. I founded CodeAttest back in 2004. We are a small company, and I am holding various roles from writing Dynatrace extensions, finding the root cause for performance issues, crash analysis through software architecture, and ends up writing response for RFPs and managing corporate finances.

What is your story with Dynatrace? Why did you start using our products and for what project?

We are working closely with Dynatrace since 2015. I was looking for a way to cut the analysis time for a load test and performance troubleshooting project that I was working on back then. I found Dynatrace and I felt like a child in the kinder store. Everything was so easy and straightforward to do with Dynatrace. I did not have to spend countless hours going through all data collected from monitored servers. Today Dynatrace helps us to improve and solve issues in complex software systems for our customers.

Have you ever had any interesting use case for Dynatrace product that you found out to be particularly intriguing? Could you tell us about it?

There are many to tell still there is one thing where Dynatrace shines best at our customers. It is a very low level of false positives signals. Our customers feel confident that when Dynatrace reports a problem – it is a real problem that needs to be addressed.

What brought you to our community? What is your best memory about it?

Through the years I had the chance to be involved in various communities including the Microsoft MVP and Microsoft Regional Director programs. I founded the Association of Software Engineers in Bulgaria to help our local community grow their professional skills.

And how about your life outside the IT – what is your biggest passion?

I have the luck (or curse) to have IT as my biggest passion. I started with computers about 30 years ago and working professionally for about 23 years already. It is a very challenging and also very rewarding profession. In my limited spare time, I practice Bulkempo martial arts.

It would also be great if you could share with us your favorite movie, song and/or a book. Let other Community members discover something new and interesting to watch/hear/read 🙂

Righting Software book by Juval Lowy is what I am reading and practicing right now. I believe we, as an industry are very immature in how we create software. I know Juval from the Microsoft community and truly share his thoughts that we need to do a much better job in the way we plan and produce software. His book lays the foundations for probably the biggest change that we need to do in the 21st century for the software industry.

It’s always great to hear when someone's job is also his biggest passion 🙂 Thank you once again @Martin K. for being with us and for answering my questions, this is a real pleasure!
