Question by Jose B. · Aug 08, 2014 at 07:28 AM ·

Dynatrace client 6.0 can't connect to 5.6.x server

Is it possible to connect to a DT 5.6.x server with a DT 6.0 client?

One workaround would be to install both client versions side by side and just use the appropriate one.

Yes. I've being doing the same thing. If you just install clients for both 5.6 and 6.0, it should be fine.

Again the answer would be no.  The only time a mis-matched client server combo works is when the Client is a lower minor version (but the same major version) than that of the server (with the exception of 5.5 to 5.6).  Barring any major client changes as there were between 5.5 and 5.6, you would presumably be able to connect your 6.0 client to 6.x in the Fall when that is released, but other than that the 3 supported versions (5.5, 5.6, and 6.0) are incompatible interchangeably between client and server.
