Hi,
at present time we have two versions of dynatrace available for our 'clients':
Those 2 versions are on separate servers with dedicated database.
We want to keep version 5.6 and upgrade 6.0 to 6.1 version but in case of issue we want to be able to go back to version 6.0.
How handle this ?
Do we have to duplicate 6.0 in ordre to upgrade it to version 6.1 and finally have version 6.0 and 6.1 ?
Can version 6.0 and 6.1 share the same database schema ?
In term of agent and client, once the server is in version 6.1, does the client and java agent upgrade automatically or does it need to be installed ?
Regards
Pierre

The license will have to be migrated through eServices.
To downgrade a license you will have to go through licensing (AFAIK there is no automatic way. You can, however, chose to upgrade the license in 'Trial' mode:

Hi Pierre,
I suggest reading the following topic in the product manual: Upgrade and Migration Guide
In short, in order to upgrade 6.0 to 6.1 you have to install the two versions next to each other, migrate the config and then start using 6.1 while 6.0 is stopped. So you will keep both versions installed as long as you don't uninstall 6.0.
The once you connect 6.1 to the performance warehouse used by 6.0 it will migrate it to the new release. AFAIK that renders it useless for use with 6.0. You could clone the database and use one for 6.1 and one for 6.0. Make sure that when you are performing the migration of the server software, the database is disconnected before stopping 6.0.
The 6.1 client is not backwards compatible with 6.0 server. But you can install the two clients along side. This is not an automatic upgrade.
Agents, however, automatically upgrade to the version they are connected to, so there is no re install needed there.
Hope this helps.
KR,
Kristof
