Collector data from a different Data center

Hello,

We have all our apps in 2 data centers and generally I have a collector machine in the same data center.

Example:

  • Data Center One - DC1DTServerMachine, DC1DTCollectorMachine & JVMs in DC1
  • Data Center Two - DC2DTServerMachine, DC2DTCollectorMachine & JVMs in DC2

Now, I have a request to collect from a JVM which is not in either of these data centers.

Example:

  • Data Center Three - JVMs in DC3.

How can I do this effectively? Is there a way to send data from this JVM in DC3 to CollectorMachine in chunks rather than realtime. Any other options? Having a CollectorMachine in DC3 may help but for now I don't have a CollectorMachine in DC3..

Hi Jibi

Best of course would be to put a collector in DC3. If that is not the option you should still be fine with letting our DC3JVM connect to your existing collectors. Pick the Collector that has the lowest latency to your DC3 as this will help with startup time. The "data sending" mechanism shouldnt be a problem at all as the agent itself buffers anyway and sends the data in an async fashion (but as soon as possible) to the Collector

I think we discussed this during our last Live Q&A webinar. You can adjust the buffer size of the agent as well as the buffer item size itself through the Advanced Mapping Options in your System Profile. So - give this a try and keep us posted on what you end up doing
