Guidance with Alerts

We are looking for guidance on better understanding and in configuring the Response time degraded for slow requests and Average response time degraded. We have seen documentation related to alerts and baselines such as this one Baseline and Smart Alerting Explained Most of the times it seems we may be getting just noise when the these types of alerts come through  We have no complaints from our user base who is very keen to changes on performance/  Is there perhaps more detailed or new documentation or a way we can engage a Compuware engineer? Thanks

Hi Juan

There is no additional documentation - but - there is a webinar that you can watch: dynaLearn Webinar - Smart Baselining with dynaTrace 4.2 - August 8, 2012 and you should also read up on the following two forum discussions:

  • significant measures concept
  • Significant Measure Calculation

The whole idea with baselining is that we do not just trigger an alert if one of your transactions has an outlier - that would generate too many false alerts. We look at the Median (50th percentila) as well as the 90th Percentile response time. We also look at "Significant Measurements" and dont alert if a single measurement is above the baseline.

Please have a look at the links I provided in this reply and let me know if this helps or if you have further questions

Andi
