Browser (JavaScript) Clarification

Hi I was presented with a clarifying question concerning the Browser (JavaScript) and how the dynaTrace Java instrumentation is collecting and aggregating the results in the Transaction Flow.

Reviewing the forums and documentation we keep coming back to the Browser agent, but that's not installed for this particular System Profile.

Can someone please reference related documentation or go into detail on how the Java agent is separating the transaction data for the Browser specifics?

Thanks in advance,

C

Hi

Dynatrace UEM (=User Experience Management) injects a JavaScript file into your HTML Pages. You can browse to your app and look at the HTML Source Code. You will find the dtagent.xxx.js file injected. This JavaScript file is collecting data within the browser, e.g: how long it takes to load that page or which 3rd party components are loaded and whether they impact load time. This data gets send back asynchronously to your Web or Application Server (that depends on whether oyu also have a Web Server Agent installed or just the Java Agent on your AppServer).

All of this data (captured in the browser + captured in the app server) eventually ends up in the dynaTrace Server that stitches together the full end-to-end User Action PurePath. The Transaction Flow then shows you the data collected in the browser via our JavaScript Agent in that special representation.

I hope this helps.
