Stored Session Description - REST

Is it possible to get the description of the stored session from the REST interface?  Ideally in the response of Stop Recording, but anywhere would be good.

Thanks,

Jeff Tucker

Hi Jeff

I forwarded this discussion to our engineering team. We are constantly improving our REST interfaces as we see more and more demand on automation interfaces. So - instead of "just adding" a new field we may implement this through a new set of interfaces that allows our users to do even more e.g: delete sessions, search by label, ...

In the moment please work with the provided workaround. But stay tuned for updates in upcoming versions

Do you mean the description you put in the description field? If you do a Start Recording through REST you can pass the description. Right now we do not return the description anywhere else. For me it would make sense to put it into the result returned by the "List Stored Session" rest interface.

But right now its not available. What you can do is query a dashboard that has the Session Browser Dashlet on it. That should give you that information. So - create a Dynatrace Dashboard - put the Session Browser Dashlet on it - store the dashboard on your server and use the Dashboard REST Interface to query the data from that dashboard

Thanks,  This is working for me now.

It would be nice to have this description field added to the "List Stored Sessions" response.  I see that field being useful for passing meta data regarding the test configuration to and from Dynatrace.  Useful for persisting data regarding the test with the session data.
