I tried deleteing an application from the manage options and applied the change. It no longer shows up in the System profile. Howver it is still listed ion the Application Overview page. How can i get rid of it. I'm using DT version 5.0

Hi, I just saw this post and I'd like to add that this was confirmed to me as being a GUI bug (easily reproduced for DT 6.0 and 6.1) with an open ticket for this with DT Engineering/Dev and would be fixed in later releases (at least this was what dt support told me in ticket SUPDT-5305).
Whenever you try to delete the application and "Don't show this message again", the application you were deleting will be deleted, but from then on, all further attempts to delete an application will have no effect. This will remain this way until you delete the client side preferences. You don't have to uninstall the client, it should be suffiecient to go to Client -> Settings and in the "Reset" part click on "Warning Dialogs ...".

UPDATE:
re-installtion of client worked. After uninstalling i removed the .dynatrace folder in my user profile to make sure i dont use any old client settings.

Thanks for this research. I am wondering though if that is the right behavior or whether it makes more sense to always show this warning without giving you the option to hide it
I think we should show the message always because the data will be removed from the PW, make sense to remind user every time they do it.
Also i don’t know the delete feature will get disabled if i hide the message. Looks like the delete is happening based on my action on the pop up (OK buttom click), so if there is no pop-up i cannot delete.
i will try to re-create it.

Hi Sreerag. That should still work. Any problem indication in the log files?
I tried performing the same operation and logs are not showing any info, it just shows that the profile is updated successfully
I was doing some clean-up of auto detected applications after the upgrade to 6.1, i remember a pop-up while i tried to delete the applications, the pop-up was similar to the one we get when we try to place a .net sensor, but i don’t remember the contents of that pop up. Looks like the pop up has something to do with the delete functionality.
Something I noticed is that the auto detected applications are not stored in profile xml file, so I cannot get it removed by editing the xml file too.
I will try restarting the server to see if that solves the issue.
UPDATE:
Here is the pop-up i was talking about and i selected 'Don't show this message again'. Since then i was not able to delete the application.
However when i tried from another client logged in as another admin user i was able to see the pop-up; also it deleted the application.
I will try re-installing the client to see if it works or not.

Hi Andi,
I have a question related to this.
In our profiles we have some auto detected applications, we want to get rid of them and create custom applications. I have done it many times but now i'm not able to do it.
When i select the application and click delete button nothing happens. could you help me with what could be the reason.
We are in 6.1, but i remember deleting applications in 6.1 on the same server, so not a version issue.

Hi. The application will still be there as the PurePaths in the selected timeframe of your AppOverview (e.g: 72 hours) are still tagged with that Application + the Measures in the Performance Warehouse are also booked on that application. Over time this application will go away!
