I am currently trying to install AppMon 6.1 in my ubuntu virtual machine. As I have requested a AppMon trial, I have downloaded the AppMon jar for linux and executed it in my machine. However, as soon as I try to call "dynaTraceServer start" in the dynatrace-6.1.0/init.d/ folder, I get a strange error: Syntax error: "(" unexpected (expecting ")").
Is AppMon not supported for ubuntu? Or am I doing something wrong? I have attached a print screen of the error.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Good to know...
I already ran in another problem. After installing everything and running dynaTraceServer start and dynaTraceCollector start, I can only see the dtfrontserver listed as a process. The collector and server are not there...I am not sure what is wrong. I am also not really the ubuntu guru, I will try it out tomorrow with windows as well.
Well - if you start these services they should keep running until there is a problem, e.g: ports are already taken by some other process. You can look at the log files that these components are writing. Check out the log directory and find the Collector and Server log files and look for any problems in there
Or give it a try on windows. thats typically very straight forward

Hi Andi,
thank you for the fast reply.
I solved the problem. I noticed that my vmware was erroneously showing me that my ubuntu version is on 64 bits. When checking from inside the ubuntu guest, I noticed it is actually 32. I downloaded the right jar and now it seems to work.
Sorry for the inconvenience...

Hi Ana
Just a quick environment question. Can you tell me the exact Ubunto version + whether you installed the 32 or 64bit version of dynatrace?
