We are planning on upgrading from 5.5 to 6.1 and plan on running our dynatrace servers in parallel. We will spin up a seperate DB for the 6.1 server while we slowly migrate everything.
Now that we have two different databases on two different dynaTrace servers everything that was on the 5.5 server will eventually move to the 6.1 server including all system profiles, agent groups, agents, measures, etc...
If we were to upgrade the 5.5 database to use on the new 6.1 server we would disconnect from the seperate DB that we initially spun up and no longer have access to those metrics.
These databases live on a MS SQL 2012 server which has DB merging capabilities.
My question is this.
Can I merge these two seperate databases in order to still access any historical data that has been collected on the 5.5 server and also access the data collected by the newly spun up database that was on the 6.1 server?
Or would the data be corrupted?
The only thing I am looking for is to be able to state one way or the other so I can inform my users up front if there will be a gap in data.
Thank you for your time.

Shawn Givan
