How to change the agents/collectors to monitor a different database name/instance

Hi,

I have inherited a dynaTrace system (6.0) that is configured and working properly except that the Oracle database being monitored has had its name changed. I.e.: the Oracle SID used to be PERFDB2 and it is now PERFDB1. The host machine, ports, etc. are all the same.

Can someone please tell me how to change the agents/collectors/whatevers/etc. so that I am able to record the SQL transactions on the database now that the name has been changed but it otherwise remains the same as before?

Thanks.

Are you refering to the database that dynatrace uses to store our Performance Data? If that is the case you can change that in the SErver Settings Dialog accessible in the Dynatrace Client.

If you are refereing to the DB that your application uses then you should not need any modification as dynatrace - just as Kyle said - will see the SQL calls from within the application and doesnt need to be configured for a specific connection string

Or do you have the Oracle Monitor Plugin configured that pulls in additoinal performance data from your Oracle DAtabase? In that case you can configure that in your System PRofile. There is a section called "Monitors". There you will find your monitor that pulls in that data. You can change this to monitor a database by modifying the monitor parameters

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. Dynatrace App Mon doesn't have any agents on a DB it uses the JDBC calls to collect that sort of information so you should already be capturing the data. Is the question you are trying to ask, Can I relate my old DB name to the new DB name?
