Geographical Locations issue

I am standing up a new Dynatrace instance with 6.0 (until 6.2 comes out), and we're having some issues with trying to import a CSV file for the geographical locations, given that we use private IP addresses (10.0.0.0/8, 192.168.1.1/24, etc). The two issues we are having are:

  1. Importing a site where we know the country, but the region is unknown (because the data source doesn't have it defined). The DT client rejects the site if the region doesn't match one of the regions that is defined in the in-built list.
  2. Mobile sites, where the country could differ on a day to day basis. I've tried setting the country to both "Other" and "N/A", but again, I don't know what region to put in the CSV file.

I don't want to have to import sites using the DT Server Settings window, as we have a large number of sites where one of the two conditions applies.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Luke,

Unfortunately we are very restrictive on what can be imported or manually entered. As a work around have you thought of using countries and regions where you would normally get no traffic from as defined placeholders?

1. use a region in the country where you normally see no traffic hitting in

2. map the mobile sites to Africa-Zimbabwe-Bulawayo

Cheers Klaus
