Change the database to other server by dynatrace

The database used for dynaTrace is in the hdbprlx01 server, but want to change another where the services dynaTrace and collector (imag1)

Already created a database with the same characteristics as the original but in the new server, compuwarecommunity page I found the way to make the configuration from console dynaTrace:

and as I understand it must do so:

1.Click the Disconnect button to disconnect the current database.

2.Provide a database type, host, port, user name, and password to specify the new database. The password is encrypted by the Java Cryptographic Extension.

3.Click the Test Connection button to verify that the Performance Warehouse database is available.

But in step 4 mentions -4.Click the Connect button to connect to the database and create the tables.

The dynaTrace Performance Warehouse is now set up to the configured database. .-

So it means that once clicking the connect button tables are created and do not need to do the database or bring it from the old server to the new???

Regards

Nayeli,

The documentation page you refer to is incorrect.  When you connect a Dynatrace Server to the Performance Warehouse, one of three things will happen:

  1. If the database is empty, tables will be created automatically
  2. If the database is not empty but is an earlier version than the Dynatrace Server, the tables will be upgraded automatically
  3. If the database is the same version as the Dynatrace Server, nothing happens.

Here's what you should do to move the PW to a new database server:

  1. In the Dynatrace client, disconnect the PW from the Dynatrace Server (so no more changes are made to the PW)
  2. Export the PW from the old database server
  3. Import the PW into the new database server
  4. In the Dynatrace client, set the new parameters for the new database server, click on 'Test Connection' and then 'Connect.

Note that steps 2 and 3 are performed using whatever procedures are needed for your database server (e.g., SQL Server or Oracle) and are no different for the PW than for any other database you are moving from database server to database server.

You should probably back up the PW at the same time, again using whatever procedures are standard for your database server.
