Calculating Funnel Ratio

Hi,

a customer have asked us to create a business transaction that measures the ration between two steps in a sales process and provide alerts on that. As I have not dealt with the ratio measures, I'm wondering if I should use it to measure the ratio between number of each user action type.

Any hints will be greatly appreciated.

Gil.

Hi Again,

I've followed Klaus great tips and also saw some posts from Rob about creation a BT stating something did NOT happen. I've created 2 business transactions, one indicating the process began and the other one indicating it has began but never finished. These BT's are working well as far as I can see.

Then, I wanted to created a calculated rate measure to display the rate between the two. This is how the screen looks like:

but the rate is kept on 100% when being charted.

Did I misunderstand the use of rate in end user experience ?

Hi Gil,

Can you give me a bit more context. How do you identify the 2 steps? Do they want to see how many people are leaving the site after step 1?

If you just want to chart the ratio a stacked percentage bar chart might be the easiest solution for you.

Klaus,

Basically each step is identified by a specific URL and you are correct, we want to identify what percentage of people are leaving after each step. I believe the key challenge would be to identify that someone has been at both step 1 and step 2 and so on.

Gil,

Most of the things you want to do is possible but some measure and BT work is required. I think I did something you want to achieve a while ago - http://apmblog.compuware.com/2013/03/28/what-to-do-if-ab-testing-fails-to-improve-conversions/

The thing is you need dynaTrace UEM to track the visit. The visit allows you to create an Exit Action Measure (is not active by default) It also allows you to filter out visits that hit certain steps. The only thing you need to be aware of is that dynaTrace is not aware of the step order.

Is the funnel example I created similar to what you want?

Hi Klaus,

Thanks (smile) I wonder how come the exit page is only used as a split measure and how can I actually calculate the ratio in the funnel between two steps (assuming the order is maintained, which brings another question) ?
