Monitor external web request - Response Time

Hi,

We would like to monitor one external web request we do on every product detail page. (reponse time & number of request).

I created a new measure with metric : Web Request Response Time (Web Requests) and set up the URI to http://api.xxx.com/data/reviews.json

Thresholds upper severe : 1 ms

I created a Business Transaction with this measure. (See screenshot Dynatrace02).

To monitor the response time of this call, i created a graph with this measure but the result doesn't seem good. It seems it's the response time of the business transaction of this webrequest and not the response time of this specific webrequest.Dynatrace04.JPG

Could you help me to monitor the response time of this external web request ? ( I tried as well with "Web Request" in "Diagnose Performance" but it only display the local web request (no call to external web request).

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Richard,

Actually this is what I did. I charted the measure not the the BT. My BT is not usefull I guess.

But the number are still very strange. How can I see the response time for all these requests (to double check).

Currently I need to go to each BT for having the detail.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alexandre,

I think you just went one step too far - the measure you created and then used for your Filter should give you the data you are looking for.  You can chart it in aggregation of min/max/avg/sum for response times and count for the count of requests.  Try charting that measure and seeing if it's more like what you were expecting.
