SAP BW version and SAP protocols supported

Hi,

What SAP BW version is it supported? I've seen in the documentations SAP RFC is supported but the version isn't especified.

On the other hand, I guess the following protocols aren't supported:

  • SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards
  • Web Intelligence
  • SAP Data Services

Is it right?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Elena.

Hi Elena,

We have no proven experience of monitoring BusinessObjects, however DCRUM monitoring of these technologies should be possible.

Both BusinessObjects Dashboards and Web Intelligence are SAP BI clients - first is using HTML / Adobe Flex UI, second HTML or Java Client. For both clients DCRUM should provide performance measurement with HTTP/HTTPs decode.

SAP Data Services is another story, since it is rather middleware data integration service for Business Warehouse not front-end. It may use set of communication protocols, depending on particular implementation. We should be able to measure performance of

  1. Accessing ODBC data sources if present - using oracle db and TDS decodes.
  2. Communication with BusinessObjects BI and other SAP components - using RFC decode
  3. Communication between clients and SAP Data Services

DCRUM monitoring capabilities does not depend on BW version but rather client and middleware technologies used in particular deployment.

Pawel
