URL monitor - HTML dashboard

Hi,

Dynatrace Version 6.2.0.1239

I have created a URL monitor which monitors a url every 1 minute and checks for 401. In the Validations I have setup HttpStatusCode with a lower severe of 400 and a higher severe of 402. I believe this should then say that 401 is OK and everything is fine?

When configuring in the web based dashboard:

1. I add traffic light

2. Add Measure and select HttpStatusCode (this can be confusing if you have a lot of them)

3. Edit the HttpStatusCode

4. Aggregation = Count

5. Resolution = 10 seconds

6. I split and select the url and save and it appears green.

The problem is, sometimes it goes RED traffic light and never goes green again even though when I change the graph I can see it has been a 1 value the whole time. How many samples does it take for it to change status? I just want if it gets a 0 it should go red. If it gets 1 it should go green.

I think its a little buggy? If i change it to sum it goes green but then change back to count still red?

I have similar issue with verify content? It works in the dynatrace client but not on the website.

Thanks for any assiatance.

Mark

Great, also when you add monitors the web dashboard doesnt make it easy to understand which one is which. e.g. they are all called verifycontent and you need to split them to work out which one is which.

Sorry - that was my fault. I thought you talk about the Traffic Light in a Dynatrace Rich Client Dashboard. There you have the "Last Value" option!

In the new Web Dashboards this option is not yet available but I already brought this to the attention of the engineers. I will forward this again to the team to get a comment on whether this is coming soon with one of our upgrades

Hi

The thing with the traffic light is that it will by default look at the AVerage Value of that measure along the timeframe you specified in your dashboard. The Default Timeframe for a dahsboard is 30 minutes. So - if your monitor returns a different value than 400 it may take a while until the average value is back to 400.

The trick with this is that you should change the Aggregation for that Measure to "Last". "Last" is an option that is only available in the Traffic Light Chart Type which only looks at the last value that came in and compares that to the thresholds.

Please give this a try and let me know if this works

Hi,

Last does not seem to be an option for my traffic lights. I can see for the # graph you can choose "Show last value only"

I am not 100% sure what the resolution is. If i set that to 10 or 30 seconds I assume its the results of 10 or 30 seconds?

I am showing you one for content found..I do have statuscode found, but I want the same for content found as well. For content found, I can see when I configure the monitor, that 1 is being returned.

Thank you.
