unfortunately we can't debug a lot of our jdbc calls because the the timestamptz objects are not converted to a string, instead we only see the object reference:
We're using the latest oracle thin jdbc driver 126.96.36.199.0. It would be great to get the toString-representation. Should I file a bug for this?

This class doesn't provide an override for toString so it is calling the Object version, perhaps this is why you see the object reference and not a timestamp. Doesn't look like there is a suitable accessor either.
I don't think its a bug, I doubt you'll get an enhancement for a single class like this.
I've heard of people using dummy methods that pass the string data as args so it can be captured, an option if you have access to change your source code.
