What is the difference between a "tier" and an "agent group"?

The docs and wizards often refer to "tiers".... but the the non-wizard UI seems to only refer to "agent groups".... do these mean the same thing?

Yup, they practically overlap completely, where Agent Group is rather our term (Agents for the tier techtype like Java, .Net, PHP,...) and tier is generic for the parts of an application. (like browser front end and web, application and DB server,...)
