When we started using Dynatrace, it was at Version 5.0. Therefore, the V5.0 agent bootstrap library was adopted as part of the image that we deploy to both development and production. Since then, we have upgraded a couple of times. Now we're running Dynatrace 6.2.
The agents are all upgraded to 6.2 automatically through the communication between the agent bootstrap library and the collector. They seems to be working all right, even the agent bootstrap library stays at V5.0.
Do we need to go through the trouble of upgrading the agent bootstrap library? It's a long process in our company that involves many teams. We prefer to skip it unless it's absolutely necessary.

You dont necessarily have to - BUT - when we introduced Collector Load Balancing with 6.x the boot strap agent changed as well as it is the boot strap agent that actually implements that feature. So - it is not absolutely necessary but you miss out on this great feature

Thank you for your answer.
Currently we only have limited amount of agents and one collector in each data center. Therefore, we don't need collector load balancing for now.
However, could you point me to some document to read about it so I will have it in mind when it's needed? I just searched Docs section but didn't find anything.
