Web Checks for Internal Applications

Hello,

I know right now that out of the box, we can only do Health Checks for externally facing applications. But I was also know that we can do Web Checks for internal apps by including IPs of our nodes.

We are looking to get some more info on how to do this.

I know I can find the IPs of the nodes from the Web Checks page but where can I find info on the subnet of the servers, the default gateway for that sub and Firewall IPs. If there any network diagrams available to depict how this would work, that would be great. I can also build a diagram too if I can get the necessary info.

Thanks,

Ari

Hi Ari,

to get web checks working for internal applications you just need to whitelist the IPs of the web check locations you want to use. You can find IPs of all available locations in the Dynatrace web UI.

Additionally, we also have simple HTTP checks on our roadmap which will be capable of monitoring availability for internal applications from within your own infrastructure.

Kind regards, Philipp

Hello Philipp,

That's what we were told as well. We're just looking for more info on what exactly 'whitelisting the IPs of the web check locations" entails. We reached out to the Network team at my client and asked them to do this but they need more information on what exactly needs to be done.

Are we just whitelisting the IPs on the DMZ of the environment or does it need to be on the actual application servers as well? We were also asked for a network diagram of what this would look like. I'm guessing we don't have one so any info on helping me build one would be really helpful too.

Thanks,

Ari

Hi @Philipp K.

Any idea of when the simple HTTP checks for internal applications will be implemented?

Thanks in advance!

Kristof
