why are apache servers being considered a service?

If I look in my transactions & services I see apache servers listed as services (for example webrp0231:8080). I also see items that I would expect to see listed as services (for example UserValidationService). Could someone help me understand why Dynatrace lists the apache servers as a service?

I do notice that if I click on the apache server service it gives me two selections; View Dynamic Requests and View Resource Requests. However, if I click on the service UserValidationService it gives me something different and only one selection; View Requests.

This tells me Dynatrace does perceives these two services differently as it certainly handles them differently. Can someone help me understand what it perceives as different?

Thanks,

David

I suggest to read the definition of services and how services are detected:

Actually it's a different service type (the Apache service is a Web Request Service type, your UserValidationService is probably a Web Service type) that's why it provides you different screens and options.
