Is it needed to restart the target processes of monitoring after update OneAgent?

Hi,

Could you tell me whether it is needed to restart the target processes of monitoring after update OneAgent?

Best Regards,

Hi Noah,

After you upgrade the oneagent on a host, the deeply monitored process will have an exclamation mark by them and will say in the process overview page that “the process must be restarted”. This does not impact monitoring though as the process is still being monitored, it just still has the old version of the agent on the monitored processes. Once you restart the processes, they will pick up the new version of the agent. In summary, deep monitoring of processes is not affected when you upgrade the oneagent on the host but for the processes to pick up the new version, a restart is needed.

Thanks

Can anyone from Dynatrace confirm that even if a restart is not operated deep monitoring will still be available? Between agent update and restart we have one or tow days, so we wonder if we will lose some monitoring data on that period.

Hi @mhlamine , yes, if you had the old oneagent deep monitoring your process, you will not loose it during the OneAgent upgrade. The process restart is only required to make the new version happens on the monitored process. But the old one are still there, doing the job.
