Question by Sreedhar M. · Oct 07, 2018 at 06:30 PM · appmon agent appmon 7 7.1 migration

What are the Advantages of switching from Classic Agent to Appmon Agent?

hi All,

Is there any pros/cons of switching from classic agent to Appmon Agent?

Also, In the below documentation link it has been mentioned that from

For AppMon 2018 October the AppMon Agent is the default platform. All the newly created System Profiles use it by default.

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/appli...

Does that mean if we upgrade our Appmon from v7.0 to v7.1 and if we apply any new Fix Pack of October 2018 will make the Agents platform switch automatically or Are we expecting any new version release in October 2018?

Thanks,

Sree

Hello @Sreedhar M.

Below are the AppMon agent benefits:

  • End-to-end encryption using https
  • Code-instrumentation on the Agent
    • Faster agent startup time
    • Less collectors required
    • Almost zero pressure on collectors
  • Easy traffic tunneling using https based protocol
  • Better Configuration Management
    • No webserver master agent required
  • Support for new platforms, technology & features which are not available with the Classic Agents.

You can have a glance on the below link where you can find the compare AppMon Agent availability with Classic Agent.

Regards,

Babar
