Question by IGOR M. · Jan 23, 2019 at 07:53 AM · Dynatrace Managed administration

fine tuning app apdex settings

Hello

Is there a way to tune APDEX Satisfactory, Tolerable, and Frustrating thresholds individualy? Not just base Satisfactory performance one.

Our application vendor has its own thresholds recomendations and we have to to use them:

UI operation performance requirements :

0 to 2 sec - acceptable/comfort response

2.01 to 5 sec - non comfort response

5.01 sec and more - unacceptable response

Thanks!

Regards,

Igor

Hi Igor,

Unfortunately, this is not possible presently.

The frustrating performance is always = (the satisfactory performance X 4) so for example if you selected 3 seconds for the satisfactory performance, the frustrating performance will be greater than 12 and the tolerable will be be between 3 and 12. You can create a request for enhancement in the Product Ideas forum here for more flexibility to choose your own numbers.

Hope This Helps

I am unable to post at suggested forum :-(

Then selecting "Select a forum for your question:" there is no such choice like "...Dynatrace Product Ideas...". Strange ...

Thanks you for answer!

Is it "frustrating performance is always = (the satisfactory performance X 4)" recomended by APDEX specification or just current good assumption?

I will submit ER later.

Regards,

Igor

Hi Igor,

This is always how it is calculated. It is the same feature as in AppMon explained here

Thanks

It's an APDEX specification. You can read more about the APDEX here.

But why 4? Who is invented 4 or justified it? I have not found answer so far and truing to understand to be prepared for customer facing talk.

Is it reasonable good asumption or result of hard scientific research?

I have spent some time reding apdex.org ApdexTechnicalSpecificationV11_000.pdf and did not found the answer. It just recomended and came out of blue. Strange. Need to understand reasons ... otherwise can not sleep well.
