Question by Janne O. · Dec 02, 2019 at 08:52 AM · alerting host monitoring problem detection

Multiple infrastructure problems & Host or monitoring unavailable

How the Host or monitoring unavailable alert and problem detection should work?

We have an case where the Host has lost from our Managed on 27.11 around 16:33 and for some reason the problem detection has ended the problem after 12 hours even when the HOST is still unavailable.

Is there some logical reason why the problem has ended after 12 hours or is the Problem AI 2.0 causing some issues like this?

Hi Janne,

it is expected behaviour that a 'Host or monitoring unavailable' problem closes after 12 hours. You can find this mentioned in the closing conditions listed here.

Best wishes, Hannah

Hi Hannah,

Thank you for the link you provided and I have totally missed the the spot about the topic.

Is there some way how we could make an custom alert about this kind of situation when the monitored hosts or components go down?

It would help us to react on these kind of situations better since this case was lost on the noise we are currently getting from the monitoring.

Br,

Janne
