Why was "Recent" taken off from the timeframe selector?

It was the selector that I most used, since switching between used timeframes is very common.

Why?

I agree. I would recommend you switch back to the old view... but dont forget to fill out the survey and provide your feedback.

Yes, I did. But it would be great to know why it was taken off? Sooner or later, will it be gone?

Antonio Sousa

Like Chad said, it's a new version of the selector. I also muss the recent tab there.
Filling out the survey is the best way to get that kind of feedback back to Product Management.

I am not sure, and from my understanding is that it is no where on the new layout, unless it is hidden somewhere. Hopefully it dosnt go away. If they get a lot of feed back that people want it, I cant imagine they would get rid of it. The good news is that staff typically review this forums and hopefully will see this thread

First of all, thank you for your feedback!

The new GTS is a completely rewritten UI component and we continue to work on it. It may change and evolve. We gather all feedback and based on it we plan and prioritize our efforts.

You mentioned that switching between used timeframes is very common. We'd like to have a better understanding of use-cases behind this and what problems the "recent" tab solved.

Could you please provide us a brief scenario of your usage or list of use-cases, so that we could understand the context?

That'd be very helpful! Thanks!

When troubleshooting it is very usual to switch between specific timeframes. Instead of defining each one of them again and again, I usually switch through the recent ones. Very efficient & usable.

I use it a lot when defining specific dates like 9 to 5, then for instance 9 to 5 yesterday. Then I come back to today. Then I do last one hour. Then I forget what I was doing, but recent remembers me.

I could go on & on. You are taking out the one that I use the most and at least two clients use (you can say that I doctored them, but they are good learners)...

This is also one more case where you "completely rewrite" things and forget to understand how users are actually using the platform. What's the use case for that? I agree it's important to support new features, but why irritate existing users???

Hi, I'd like to update that we took feedback and re-introduced Recent section in new Global Timeframe Selector.

Changes are available in version 1.193 (April 2020)

I'm so glad! I already switched back to the new timeframe selector!

Thanks a lot, as this is really one of the "functionalities" I use more in Dynatrace!
