I can't get my installation to work. I'm seeing script errors flying by during the unpacking of the dynatrace server stage.
Hi Jeff
Can you tell me more about these errors? Which errors? Are we talking Windows on Linux installation? Also - which exact version of these OSs do you have?

The trial worked well, could really see what was going on with the database accesses, I'm running vBulletin forum software, so there isn't much code I can change without spending years on it. I did leave the Dynatrace running on the server over night and the server has fallen over by morning. So only ran it in short bursts after that. It pointed me to a few areas. I upgraded the RAM on the server as noticed HDD activity, went from 4GB to 8GB, Dynatrace ran better then. There is a lot of details in Dynatrace certainly great for tuning a website.
Thanks for the feedback. Let us know if there is anything we can help you with. If you have a new question dont hesitate to post it on the dynaTrace Open Q&A

Hi Team,
We want to evaluate the Dyna Trace tool. DO you have any team in India to provide demo on your tool at the organization level.
Web-ex session is also possible.
We will be thankful to you.
Thanks,
Vikas

Great to hear you got it working. It shouldnt take a full day until it is available for another machine. In case you need a longer free trial license follow the instructions in the emails that were sent to you. There should be an option that explains how to "extend" the license

Hi Andi,
I can now see the Free License getting enabled on the other machine. I guess there is a time-gap of 1 day for it to get enabled on the new machine?
Thanks & Regards,

Hi,
I could not connect to my remote tomcat server in the due period given to me. I want to restart my evaluation with Dynatrace. Kindly provide me one more license to complete the POC.
I saw you already got a new trial license.
Can you let us know what kind of problems you ran into with connection your tomcat server?

Hello,
I have the same kind of issue that James Ruzinok had. (but I installed ver 5.6.0)
By the way, is this a reason why I can't install license with dynatrace client?
(It said "You have no permission to a deploy a license")
When you connect your dynaTrace client to the dynaTrace server, which username did you use (if asked to provide one). Normally the dynatrace client will connect with the default admin user and password. (user: admin, password: admin)

Well it looks like there are 2 issues that need to be corrected:
1) Permissions. Both the collector and Server cannot write the configuration file.
2) Issue with Java VM for server:
I’ve attached all the logs generated as I attempted to install yesterday just prior to leaving for day. Too bad it is not as easy as a port conflict, oh well.
In an email conversation between James and I we figured out that the problem was related to missing access privileges of the Local System User Account. This is the default Account that is used by our dynaTrace Server, Collector, Web Server Agent and Host Agent. The account didn’t have write privileges to the installation folder which is needed in order for dynaTrace to read/write config files.
James was able to grant the user these privileges and now things are working as expected
I encountered permissions issues when I removed the version I used in class and tried to install the new version provided this week. I ended up removing all remaining folders from my drive that remained from the uninsall, and that allowed the new install to work successfully.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 OS. I initially downloaded and installed the x64 Full Install and the 32 bit Client but the server instance wouldn't connect when going to the client. I opened my IIS manager and the path referenced was not configured in IIS. The Installer completed without errors. Then I saw in the Quick Start guide were it stated to install the 32 bit version so I uninstalled the 64 bit version and installed the 32 bit. Still can't connect to http://localhost:2021, getting error: Settings seem to be erroneous, the connection test failed. IOException: Unable to connect to localhost:2021 because of the following exceptions: Connection refused: connect, Unable to connect to localhost:2021 because of: ConnectException: Connection refused: connect.
Looking at the event logs I see that the dynaTrace server and Collector started then stopped one second later for a few times. During the process the Analysis Server started and stopped once. Then after the synaTrace Server logged successfully started it is followed by an error with event ID 1006, The 'dynaTrace Server 5.5.0' terminated unexpectedly. This happens 3 times then an error with event ID 1007 is entered Terminating 'dynaTrace Server 5.5.0': The number of restarts exceeded the maximum of 3 restarts in sequence (time delay between restarts less than 60 seconds).
I'm scheduled to attend the training in Boston on 5/12/14 and want to get this and the easyTravel application installed to complete the pre-requisites completed. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James
Hi James
Can you look at the generated log files and let us know if there is anything suspicious in these log files? I assume there is a port conflict or something like that that prevents our services to start. You can find the log files in your INSTALLDIR\Log\Server & INSTALLDIR\Log\Collector.
Feel free to send them to me via email as well. My email is myfirstname.mylastname@compuware.com
Andreas
James,
while the error codes do not exactly match the article here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc756342%28WS.10%29.aspx this might help.
I've seen multiple cases where the default windows service timeout caused the dynaTrace services not to start properly. Usually the default timeout is long enough but on machines with slow disks or generally overloaded (CPU/Mem) the timeout could be too low.
Can you try to adjust them?
Also you tried to access port 2021 via your browser. The correct URL to check if the server is up would be https://localhost:8021.
You are also using dynaTrace 5.5.0? I assume you didn't download/install the newest version which is 5.6.0?

Hi
It is possible to install Server, Collector and Agent on the same box. That should not be a problem.
Can you let me know what exact problem you ran into? What are these errors you are seeing? Where do you see them?
