I understand that an "operations display" via the kiosk mode exists and that it is invoked using a -kiosk option on a command line, but my question is: What exactly is the executable that is option applies to?
If it is dtcmd.cmd,-it's not listed as an option in the help, and the Client is typically launched from some obscure local path (like javaws.exe -localfile "C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\15\2f32bbcf-5d8eda30") which doesn;t play with the -kiosk option at all nicely.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Derek,
I have also tested this on my side and this is still an issue. I will try and upgrade the client version so it gets the latest update and will advise further on my end once i have done.
Kind regards

Katlego,
I've experienced this as well when my local client was connected to multiple dynaTrace environments and they were at different versions (6.0.0.7077 vs 6.0.0.7000). Kiosk mode doesn't like that. Not sure if that's the case for you or not, but it's something to check.
Thanks,
Derek

Hi,
I am running the 64-bit edition of dynatrace version 6.0. When I set up the kiosk mode the client keeps on closing and re-opnening. What is causing this to happen?
I also was want to set it up so that it is not in fullscreen is that possible too?
regards

I did a little more experimentation w/ kiosk mode, this time in 5.5. On its face, 5.5 is more constraining b/c the app overview dashboard is always presented in the set of dashboard tabs across the top (as the blue "Monitoring" tab).
Nevertheless, I found that if you have several custom dashboards open when you close the client and then go into kiosk mode, the app overview is included in the slide show IF it was the dashboard on top when you exited. If it was not, then it's not included.
I also tried this in 5.0, and it works the same way.

For the local 5.0 client or the Webstart client in the kiosk mode, I found out that the application overview dashboard was included in the dashboard loop. I had to assign the user specific dashboards and had one of the dashboards "auto-open", to exclude the app overview dashboard.
Is there any other way to disable the application overview dashboard from showing up in kiosk mode?
Thanks,
Harshal.

How do I exit out of kiosk mode?
There are a few hot keys you can use to "exit" kiosk mode:
"F11"*: Toggles Fullscreen/non-Fullscreen mode
"Esc": Pauses/resumes dashboard switching
"Page Up"/"Page Down": Manually cycles to next/previous dashboard
*Works in both kiosk and non-kiosk mode.
The only way to really "exit" out of kiosk mode is to close the client and open it without the "-kiosk" command.
Thanks for the input, William,
I made sure this can be found more easily.

I just worked w/ kiosk mode and learned an additional piece of information not mentioned here: The dashboards it displays in kiosk mode are the ones open in normal client mode. So you can launch your local client normally, open the dashboards you want in your slide show, close the client and relaunch in kiosk mode. If you have 20 dashboards but only 3 open, those 3 are displayed.

You can find more information on the kiosk option in the online documentation: Dashboards

Hi Piers,
You can use the dT client in two ways. One is via the "Java Web Start" option, where you pull the client down from the dT server web interface (typically from something like http://myDtServer:8020). That's what you've apparently done. The other is by locally installing the client on your PC (a regular product install).
Kiosk mode is for locally-installed clients. So having done that, on my Windows machine, I'd invoke
C:\>"C:\Program Files (x86)\dynaTrace\dynaTrace Client 4.1.0\dtclient.exe" -kiosk
and it would rotate through the dashboards that I had set up.

Hey, Rob,
proud to have something new for you:
