Yes makes sense. But... is it possible that the dynaTrace Server is collecting the data from the collector?

We've restricted firewall rules. Communication from dmz to intranet is prohibited.

Communication is always initiated from the Collector to the Server. You can change the ports - you can also tunnel through HTTP.
More information on connectivity can be found here: Setup Communication

Hi,

i had a similar question.

Is the dynaTrace Collector the sender of the data or is the dynaTrace Server collecting the data from the collector?

Best regards

The Agent collects the data from within your Application (Java, .NET, Web Server, Native, ...). The Agent sends this data to the Collector. The Collector then sends the data to the dynaTrace Server where all data that is collected from all Agents will be analyzed. This allows us to
a) monitor globally distributed systems
b) scale by adding additional Collectors that handle globally distributed agents

Makes sense?

Please check out the section in the APM University that covers the dynaTrace Platform: http://apmuniversity.compuware.com/course/view.php?id=498

Amol - it seems you are a very active forum member with a lot of great questions. I try to answer most of these questions in the forum. For some of your scenarios I think its better to leverage our Service Delivery Group (aka Enablement Services). I took the liberty to reached out to the Enablement Service Team in your area. They might contact you

Keep these questions coming

It will take a while until this page shows content as there is a flash content on it.
If that doesnt work for you - can you try a different browser? Also - could you tell me which exact browser version you are using right now. Seems you are using Chrome - which we have tested and it should work
