Question by Rajesh J. · Oct 02, 2012 at 06:48 AM ·

CPU Sampling No supported Agents connected

I am using dynaTrace 4.1 on Java 1.6 Websphere on AIX boxes. None of the 6 Java Agents connected allow me to do CPU Sampling

I get the message on the CPU Sampling or Memory Sampling dashboards as "No Supported Agents Connected"

Is there something specific reason for not supporting this for Java 1.6 on AIX?

Thanks,

Rajesh

Hi Rajesh

Can you check your Agent Log files? During startup we do some checks on whether CPU Sampling is possible on certain OS/JVM combinations. In case a JVM doesnt support CPU Sampling (or in case we think it is not safe because of known issues) - we would write this to the Agent Log file during startup of the agent

Hi Andreas,

I have a configuration agent based on Windows 2003 Server and Java 1.5 and I just want to be sure to perform CPU Sampling.
The documentation of dynaTrace indicates "CPU Sampling for Java is only available for Java versions 1.5+" but to confirm if I can apply CPU Sampling on a specific configuration I must see the logs to be sure to perform that action?

Thanks in advance,
Joan Alonso

You just need to open the CPU Sampling Dashlet and then start CPU Sampling. You will then get a list of Agents that support it. If your JVMs run on Windows and they are Java 1.5 you should see all of the connected agents

Ok, I'll check the dashlet for CPU Sampling.

Thanks,
Joan Alonso
