We have installed host agent on our DB server (Linux) to get the system metrics like cpu, memory, etc. My understanding is that dynatrace server and agent talks directly to get these metrics. We have opened a FW from the agent on the DB to dynatrace server. My questions is, is the data pushed by agent to dynatrace server? or Dynatrace server polls the agent? Even though we have FW rule from DB agent-> Dynaserver, i am not seeing metrics. So i am wondering do we need FW rule both ways DB agent <--> Dyna server or Dyna server ----> DB agent, etc. Can someone let me know.

The Host Agent - same as with all other dynaTrace Agents - opens a connection to the dynaTrace Collector which then forwards the data to the dynaTrace Server. The data is therefore PUSHED from the Agent to the Collector.
Here is more information on the configuration options: Host Monitoring Agent
Due to "historical" reasons we still call the "endpoint" server even though this is actually the dynaTrace Collector that the Agent connects to.
I hope this helps
