Hello,
I would like to reset the admin password from the default, under setting> users > Admin (the password fields are greyed out).
Is there a way to use md5 hashes to generate a password and use it in the users.permissions.xml file. please note that I don't want to disable the admin account.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Haider,
If you logged into the dynaTrace Client as Admin, you can right click the server name in the bottom right corner of the client and select Change Password...
Then this window appears..

If can't log in as admin, check this post

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip Michael.
I still don't see the reason why the password field is greyed out in the users section, even if I logged in as admin!
Valid point - I have forwarded it to our UI Team - would be a usability improvement to also change the password in that dialog
