I used version 3.5 and 4.1 in the past. I liked the sidebar with the cockpit on the left and the dashlets that open on the right of the screen on drill-down. On version 4.2 the cockpit is missing for me - and after spending 1.5 hours checking docs and experimenting I still don't have it worked out.
I figured that I can go to Dashboards.New Dashboard.Cockpit and add a new cockpit. I can then save this as a dashboard. The problem with this one is that the navigation is different. When I drill down, instead of creating the dashlet on the right portion of the screen, it overlays the cockpit.
Looking for a solution.

Daniel,
the cockpit isn't gone it's just collapsed by default to use the space of the client window for the baselining zero config dashboard.
On the very left side of the client window about in the middle of the height you will see a little triangle, hover your mouse over and the cockpit will expand. Then you can pin the cockpit to stay open by the littel pin icon in the upper right of the cockpit frame.
We are aware that this isn't very obvious and have made the expand icon a bit bigger in our upcoming release.
