We would like to use dynaTrace to correlate between applications running in a VM, using memory and CPU as seen by the guest OS, correlated to the same memory and CPU given to the guest OS by the VMware Host.
We are using dynaTrace 5.0 and thought that dynaTrace would just pickup the VMware performance counters if they were installed. However, it does NOT look like that is the case. It looks like the integration is using the Monitor functionality. Is this true? If so, why is this functionality done this way? This would be a configuration nightmare if this is true.
Please let us know the best way to accomplish this.

I must agree that it is difficult to use in large environments. Essentially you would use the provided dashboard for VMWare, choose the VM and it's corresponding ESX host in the filter and display the information. So I need to know which ESX my VM is running on. This is constantly changing in most environments. This correlation can probably be done automatically?
