Hello!
A few of our customers have had difficulty finding a method to uninstall old versions of the dynaTrace WebStart Client. There is no add/remove programs entry, and the WebStart client actually creates a directory structure on the disk AND adds registry values.
Example Directory:
"C:\Users\dconnet\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\50\7b8df9b2-5e463196"
Also, somewhat unrelated but also confusing: I have Java version 7.0 installed, not 6.0, I am not sure why it is building out a cache in the 6.0 folder.
Example Registry Key.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\dynatrace
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\dynatrace\diagnostics
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\dynatrace\diagnostics\client
"user/Id"="65a6254f-d7c6-494f-b89a-03f62f231d6c"
"uip/State"="/N/O"
"uip/State/Last/Modified"="1363957942633"
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\dynaTrace Webstart Client NonProd
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\dynaTrace Webstart Client Prod
Is this behavior expected? Is there a cleaner way that I can advise our customers to uninstall their old web start clients? I'd rather not have to advise everyone to run a registry cleaner every time we upgrade versions.
Thanks!

In order to remove the webstart client from my machine, I did the following:
#1) hand-cleaned the registry of the keys listed above.
#2) Manually deleted items from the Start > dynaTrace <..>
#3) Manually deleted c:\users[username]\.dynTrace folder and subfolders
#4) Went into the Java CPL and manually deleted the apps listed there for dynaTrace.
I would prefer an uninstaller or access from Control Panel > Programs and Features, but neither was available.

I typically go to Add/Remove Programs as mine show up there.
Another option is to go to Control Panel -> Java. There is an option to clear the application cache

Dave, in the past I have deleted the "dynaTrace Webstart Client" folder under "C:\Users\youruserid\.dynaTrace\".
May be some one can validate this.
However I haven't removed any registry keys.
Before deleting that folder, something to keep in mind is that this folder also contains locally saved reports and dashboards (dashboards found under conf folder).
I believe our client uses Java 1.6...at least the thick client installs it locally.
