Dashboard migration problem

I have developed a new dashboard in my dynaTrace Test Center Edition. Now I want to move this dashboard to PROD; I used to do this by saving the dashboard from the Test Center Edition to my local machine, then logon to PROD and open the dashboard there. After some minor modification (data source!) the dashboard can then be saved on the dT server.

It seems this process does not work when the target dT-version is lower than the source version (Test is 5.5, PROD is 5.0).

Is there any way around this?

Wim.

Hi Wim,

Just open you dashboard xml file in notepad and check whether xml file which you are trying to import is complete or not.

Also delete if white space is present at the end of the code and then try to import the xml.

Best Regards,

Jaydatt.

The problem most likely is that your 5.5 dashboard uses dashlets that are not available in 5.0? Is there any error message that you get?

The only messages I get are:

I can build the dashboard from scratch in 5.0; it has the same look & functionality as the 5.5 version, I am not aware of using 5.5-only dashlets.

Can you go to the System Information Dashlet and open the client log file? There might be a more detailed error message in that log file

The log says:

2013-08-19 11:23:03 SEVERE [com.dynatrace.diagnostics.client.communication.AbstractCommunicationManager$11] communication error 'Requesting dashboard configuration':: com.dynatrace.diagnostics.client.communication.AsyncCallJob jobFinishedWithErrors:136

Meanwhile I noticed that there are some differences in the Business Transaction definitions that are used by this dashboard (in test there is an extra measure). Can that explain the problem?

That most likely is the problem. You can also have a look at the server log files and search for an error
