Infrastructure Monitoring vs Host Health Overview

Hi,

In 5.5 Prod Edition we have Infrastructure monitoring and in Test center Edition we have Host health overview. In infrastructure (Prod edition) we can not really open multiple windows at the same time for different processes where as we can do this in Test center edition. Why did we change this in Prod? also in Prod you can only view up to 72 hours of data and in Test center edition we can view there is no restriction.  Are we planning to change this?

Also Host Health Overview/Infrastructure dashboards - can we modify the thresholds per host or per agent group? For example if we want to change the page faults thresholds per agent group. Another question i have is  -can we save these dashboards and change them to use other measures?

We (Fidelity) passed along a detailed RFE to Product Management and Engineering along some similar lines.

In particular, we requested a major fix to the purestack implementation and the agent host model to become profile-agnostic, and allow our ops teams to monitor/get to infrastructure and hostgroup data outside of the profiles, so teams focused on hardware can easily get at this information without having to guess which profile(s) may have those boxes in it. The current model both doesn't work great for app teams, and is non-function for infrastructure teams.

This would fix the current purestack issue where the same data is collected many times on a single server, once per agent, and then potentially stored many times in the PDW, once per profile mapped to that server.

I have the same experience as Ted.  Most customers like the Host Health Overview better. In fact, they all want the ability to create other dashboards like that with a control panel.  They really want that!

Thanks

Yup, most customers I work with want the ability to use different time frames than what the Infrastructure allows.  I almost always end up loading the Host Health Overview in Prod environments due to this.  Once they see it, they also like the ability to quickly switch from one Host to another, but it's mostly the time frame.

Nice. Thanks Andi. that was a useful trick. One of the advantages is we can open the process dashboard out side of  "Monitoring" dashboard and use our own time frames to look at the data. with Infrastructure view - when we go into details all the dashboards are open in the out of the box "Monitoring" dashboard where we can go only up to 72 hours. Another feature we like is we can open as many process dashlet windows and compare them but in the infrastructure view we can only open one process dashlet.

In both the views - Do you know why we did not allow drill down from these dashboards? We cannot even copy these to create our own dashboards based on these, we cannot even view the measures, etc

Hi

You can see all hosts in the Infrastructure View. Clicking on these hosts shows you the details on the right side panel. From there you get to the details.

If you want "the old/test center" way in a Production Edition you can still get it. The Start Center allows you to switch between the different "license views" using Ctrl-Shift-F7 key combination. Press it a couple of times and you will get to the Test Center Edition View and from there open the Host Health Monitoring dashboard. Then you can save this on your dT server to make it easier accessible.

What I am interested in is what you like about this type of dashboard compared to the Infrastructure View. Any feedback is apprecated because we want people to use the Infrastructure View
