Can we change the system profile name without losing the data?

Can we change the system profile name without losing the data? When we try to change the name it gives a message that we will lose the hystorical data collected by live sessions

Hi,

you will only lose data for the actual live session (like purepaths) historical data for charting usage and older purepath which are already stored in the session storage are not affected.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for Clarification. The warning we get is kind of misleading.

Hi Stefan,

Sorry to recover an older thread, but I just performed a test which I don't understand the result, considering what you said.

I ran an application which generated one PurePath. The measure "Recorded PurePaths" showed a value of 1 and the files in the "/sessions/stored" were updated. As far as I understand this means that the PurePath is now stored in the session storage (meaning it's not a candidate to exclusion from renaming).

But after renaming the System Profile, that PurePath didn't show up in the PurePaths dashlet. However, I do see that the ".session" folder was copied.

Thanks,
Gabriel

data will still going to be there, but because the system profile name change, data now become non-retrievable by dt server. but if you change the name back to the original, you may again get the data.

It would be very nice if compuware can enable a migration when system profile name gets changed.
