Deleted BTs Still Appearing on self monitoring dashboards

All,

We have deleted some Busines Transactions but when we check the top contributors those BTs are still there. I have also filtered for the last 30 minutes and could finde up to 143 on one of the deleted BTs.

Why is this behaviour? Should I open a ticket for that?

Regards,

Igor

Hi Stefan,

Thanks about your help. Actually, the auto purge was selected since we started the project, and yes we did some restarts too.

We are seeing the task running ok!

Thanks again

so yes this is normal behavior. So default timeframe is 2 months after which the autopurge takes action and deletes measures for which no measurements where booked within the last 2 months. Addtionally the autopurge always tries to delete as many as possible measures within 10 minutes to keep the impact on production low so the numbers will drop slowly. you should see log output that the purge is running during the aging task do you see that?

once you deleted/deactivated the bts they will have almost no performance impact on your system they can only affect the database due to their amount till they are deleted.

To be sure did you do a reconnect of the PWH when you enabled the autopurge setting? this is mandatory alternatively a server restart is sufficient too

Hi Stefan,

I have recorded a webex showing an example of this behavior:

https://compuwaremc.webex.com/compuwaremc/ldr.php?AT=pb&SP=MC&rID=75617872&rKey=06a58961171d78ad

Let me know if it can help in understand what we are seeing here. Is this behavior normal or not?

The auto purge was selected. We are trying to do a tuning in this environment.

Regards

hi,

from the doc

 Auto Purge

During a clean up task old dynamic measures will be deleted from the Performance Warehouse. Technically speaking: Each dynamic measure for which no new measurements have been received as long as the duration of the mid resolution will be purged from the Performance Warehouse. Activating this functionality helps to clean up unused measures in case of measure explosions or misconfigurations. If you think you need to tweak AutoPurge further, please talk to support.

Hi Stefan

The option "enable auto purge measures during clean up task" is enabled here, and the task runs every day at 2am. Can this measures not being clean?

Thanks

this is normal behavior as they are still referenced in the performance warehouse but no new data is persisted for thes bts. To get rid of them you can enable "auto purge measures" in the performance warehouse configuration (disconnect/reconnect the PWH afterwards). Then old measures (including) bts will be purged from the PWH if no new measurements arrived for them. Have a look at the PWH Administration page in the docu for more information.
