Question by Yifan L. · Nov 17, 2013 at 07:51 AM ·

Can dynaTrace be used for applications built on node.js framework?

We're using dynaTrace Test Center V5.5 for Java application now. One of our teams is developing an application using node.js. I wonder if there's any way we can use dynaTrace to analyze its performance. Thanks for any information available.

Hi,

Currently we don't have a node.js agent, but we have it on our road map. Goal is to have a node.js agent next year. You can help us if you provide us some more details on your environment. Currently you can use a web server in front of node.js and use our web server agent together with our host agent to get some performance and infrastructure metrics.

I'm interested in getting some feedback from you, perhaps you can answer some of these questions?

  • OS System
  • Node JS Version
  • Used Frameworks like: Express 2, Express 3, Restify, Connect 1, Connect 2 ......
  • Database or Datastore like: Memcached, MongoDB, mySQL ...
  • Is there a web server (Apache, nginx ..) used in front of node.js
  • Is node.js communicating with other backends (Java, .NET ...)

Anything else worth to mention

You can also send me a direct email: alexander.sommer@compuware.com

Hi alex,

is there an update on this, do you have an agent for node.js?

Thanks,

Vikas

Hi. Node.js support is planned for the upcoming dynaTrace 6.1 release. Release date is later this year. I can check with product management whether they still have open slots to participate in the early access program
