Hi

Is there any requirement for DynaTrace Server and Collector in terms of IOPS? This helps us to select right storage type.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ram

Hi,

We are seperating collector from server during DynaTrace 5.6 upgrade and in the process of evaluating the Disk IO requirements for collector.

We are expecting to have around 25 profiles using around 70 - 80 agents on the Test Center edition. Around 4 to 5 profiles will actively run generating continuous pure-paths. As there is nothing stored to disks on collector machine, what type of IO activity can we expect on collector machine?

Thanks

Ram

Hi. The Collector will store information on disk - we call it the Class Cache - which is information about Class Files and Assemblies loaded by the connected agents. However - this is information that is written when new agents connect but is nothing that happens "regularly". So - I/O activity to disk is not as important as I/O activity on the network. The Collector will send a lot of information to the dynaTrace SErver - therefore the focus should definitely be on network connectivity
