Database retention periods for dynaTrace

Hi,

We have just got dynaTrace implemented in our test environment.Could you let me know how we could check the following values specific to our implementation.

1) The retention period for pure paths in database(in terms of number of days).

2) Retention periods for aggregated data and the level of aggregation.

Hi,

In the case, when the 120GB are used the older PP are erased and lost. PP not go to que Warehouse (only the metrics - like time, duration, number of erros, etc  - are record there). I need to say that this 120GB is really a problem for me, it is too small. I'm actually migrating this to a storage, as you can see in the configuration you choose the path where the session will be stored. It is a hint.

About the low resolution, yes. If you don't want this, just mark the option 'Never purge low resolution data from the Performance Warehouse' (same screen).

Glad that helps. If I can help, just say.

Thanks for your reply. It really helps.

Looking at your first storage screenshot, if the 120 GB gets used up, does that mean that the older pure path data will be aggregated and pushed in performance warehouse and new purepaths will start getting stored on disk(utilising this 120 GB).

Also, looking at 2nd screenshot , does that indicate that low res. data will be stored for 5 weeks and then it will be totally deleted or removed from the performance warehouse?

Anurag

Hi,

1) The purepaths (PP) are stored in disk, and the time depends of the size of your PP and the size of the storage. I have applications where the data be for weeks and others for days. I recommend a good disk space and a optimized configuration of your sensors (what is direct connected to the size of PP). In the stress test enviroment it is a trick thing because the applications always are variable, so we can not define a pattern of consume (like in production). Here is the configuration:

2) Unlike the other, this one is fixed by time and you need to pay attention about have the necessary space for the data of your applications. This configuration is here:

In the documentation you can see in details this options.

Hope that helps.
