Support for Java 8?

Hello,

We have a Java application running on Jetty on Red Hat Linux, with Dynatrace 5.5.

At the moment, we are using Java 7, but we plan to upgrade to Java 8.

The "Supported Java Virtual Machines" table at dynaTrace 5.6 Release Notes only lists up to Java 7.

Is Java 8 supported by DT 5.5/5.6? If not, when will a compatible version be available?

Regards,

André

Curiously, do you know if it will be mandatory to upgrade the bootstrap agent with 6.0? In our case we are currently on 5.5 and still using a 4.2 bootstrap agent.

Hi Enrico,

It is not mandatory, you will just need to do it if you want the following new features:

  • Controlled rollout of fixpacks across agents
  • Collector failover during startup after initial connection

Hi Andre

Java 8 is not on the list becuase it is not officially supported by dT 5.x. Keep an eye on the release notes for upcoming versions. Once we support it we will put it in the release notes for the respective version that supports it.

Thanks!

Any word on when we can expect dT 6.0 (or whatever version that supports Java 8)? (smile)

Plan for having 6.0 ready (which includes the Java 8 support) is mid July of this year...

Best, Roman
