Question by Meng Y. · May 20, 2014 at 03:51 AM ·

To get performance metrics of a URL

Hi All,

I have a question on a user action/visit BT that I want to know performance metrics when user visit a URL(ie./online/browse/category_landing_galleryview.jsp). Below is a screenshot of User Actions and User Action PurePaths Dashlets.

I'm not sure whether I'm doing it right, the filter measure I use is user action count measure as below.

Note the limitation to the customer's environment is that we can't use any server-side metrics, because only the UEM is working. So I can only use User Experience measures.

Anyone could help please?

Thanks!

Meng

Hi Meng,

Which performance metrics are you looking for 'galleryview.jsp'? count and page load time ?

Total page load time : User Actions–>Page Actions–>Total Time   Use 'measure action ending at specific page', select 'contains' and enter your URI. Please refer to this post : Measures on Page Actions

Total number of visits for a page can be obtained by  counting a unique action page or page load itself.

User Actions–>Page Actions–>Count.  Better way select your page or user action–>right click–>create measure–>'Action name' gets auto populated–>Enter URL which you want to monitor.

You may want to check that these measures are used in BT under filter or results.  ( To keep things simple I would suggest first check measure is working properly or not then go for BT )

Hi Meng,

  1. Do you have a threshold on that measure? Should be "upper severe" to 1
  2. Do you have anything in "Calculate Results" of the Business Transaction?  This is where you would list the performance metrics you want.  (note that for User Action based BTs, Failure Rate, Duration, and Count are subscribed automatically)

What problems are you seeing specifically?  No data from the BT?  Not the right data from the BT?

Rick

Rick, It's getting me data. I'm not sure whether this is the right measure. Attached 1.png shows the configurations I did with the measure. The second category of measure attributes is "measure actions starting at a specific page", where I decided to put the URL. But there is another attribute option called "measure actions ending at a specific page" where you could also specify a URL

If I want to know the response time of a page loading, should I choose starting or ending? Or another measure might be more appropriate?
