Had a question from our DB Admin concerning dynaTrace activity to the Performance Warehouse. I thought he was referring to database space but turns out space is not the issue. The DB ADmin is inquiring about the amount of physical and/or logical IO activity on the disks. This would be large volume reads to the disk. I would like to know from the vendor if this activity increases with more processes added (i.e. more instrumented applications added). If this becomes an issue, then we will have to move dynaTrace off and on a separate database. However, before we go done that path, let’s get some answers to make sure.
Would appreciate your input.
Thanks,
Rob Herring

There are the Performance Warehouse Performance Dashboards built in to dynaTrace that give you this (read and write) information You can monitor the time spent reading and writing, as well as the number of measures we are writing to the database These are accessed from the Start Center | Monitoring link
