Question by Meng Y. · Jul 03, 2014 at 03:27 AM ·

Why does dynaTrace Auto-detect an Application named Null:8010

I've got a system profile which auto detects applications BY HOST. Then I get 2 applications like http://myapp:8010 and http://(null):8010

So what is the null mean, is that a wildcard? If that's the case, does it mean the 2 applications are actually the same one?

Thanks

Hi Meng,

I have seen the same thing, so I'd be interested in an explanation.

What you could try, it charting the PP Response Time by All Applications, change the aggregation to count and go back in time. Depending on how much session storage space you have, you may be able to find the PurePath(s), and that may give you some answers?

Thanks,

David

That's a very good idea. I tried it and found the 2 both occurred only once. Then what's left is the default application.

I'm still curious why is there a null

Tried a different system profile, the null application occurred 170 times, the other occurred 2k times.
