Hi
Yes - thats possible. Dynatrace can monitory ANY type of application that is based on .NET, Java or PHP. Simply walk through the configuration wizard in dynaTrace that allows you to setup a new Tier. Then select e.g: .,NET Application (if you are dealing with a .NET Rich Client App) and follow the instructions on how to configure an agent for that type of application. Once an Agents is injected into a rich client application it will capture PurePaths of e.g: Mouse and button clicks in your application

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for your feedback. I tried following your steps and created a system profile for .NET application and also configured new tier for the same. I configured agent on the machine where the application is installed. However the .NET agent configuration is not successful. Could you please let me know the necessary steps to configure a desktop application for dynatrace monitoring? And for desktop application, is it necessary to install dynatrace client and agent on the same machine where the application is installed? Could you please confirm on this?

Hi
If you say its not successful - can you tell me why not? Does the .NET AGent Configuration tool not allow you to pick your .EXE? Does it show any error? AFter you have configured your .EXE as an entry through the .NET Agent Configuration Tool you need to restart your Rich Client Application.
Also - you only need to install the Agent on that machine where you have your Rich Client Application running. The AGent will collect data from your Rich Client Application and will send this data to the dynatrace Collector which forwards it to the server. You can then use the dynaTrace client ON ANY machine to analzye the data
Hope this helps
Hi Andreas,
I picked the application process .EXE and also configured .EXE as an entry through the .NET agent configuration tool. I am getting the following error message:
'Agent is not activated (environment variables COR_PROFILER and COR_ENABLE_PROFILING are not set). Press 'Activate' button to set environment variables. Process restart or system reboot is required'.
I restarted the process but I am still getting this error message. Is there any other setting or configuration I am suppose to do for this desktop application?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Saurabh.
Hi. There is nothing else you need to do. I will reach out to you via email so that we can have a look at this on e.g: a webex. Then we can update the forum with our findings

Great to hear. Is there anything you did that solved the problem you initially had? Anything you can share with the community?
Hi,
I did nothing. Just restarted my machine and .NET agent. It got connected successfully.
