Application Uptime Reporting

Hi all,

I was asked recently to compare uptime of an application to a few others in our Dynatrace Application Monitoring system. He is looking for things like a % that the application was available. Any help to report this would be great

Best,

Kyle

If this is a browser-facing app, you could create a URL Monitor which hits the application every x minutes. This wouldn't necessarily be the most accurate way to obtain an availability metric(The higher the interval, the worse your resolution) but would be a quick and easy way to do this.

Cheers,

Thanks Saanj, I tried to set up a URL monitor but I am consistantly getting connection refused. Other URL monitors are not failing for this particular collector, where could I look to fix this?

Have all Tests resulted in a failure? I would check to see if you are utilizing the correct protocol (HTTP/HTTPS) and/or make sure that application does not have firewall rules for incoming connections?

Also consider placing a collector somewhere that has access the application. Perhaps your URL monitor is running on a collector that can't access the frontdoor tier of the application.

This ended up being a strange firewall issue. It was blocking access to that specific site for some reason

What about using the "Agent Availability" measure?

The problem is that it is a .NET application and the agents consistantly spin up and down so this measure is not accurate for this purpose
